20 Oct Why Are Site Visits Important?
AIM Reusable Packaging (AIM) places a high importance on getting to know our customer and getting a feel for the specific industry our customer is involved in. The easiest, and most effective way to ‘getting to know your customer’, is to take a tour of their operations.
On a recent visit to a customer in Wisconsin, it was uncovered during a tour that they were utilizing wood pallets for shipping one way product out. After doing some extensive searching through our network of partners and suppliers, we were able to find a lower cost alternative with plastic pallets. This will not only save the customer money up front but also allow the end user to more easily scrap or possibly re-use the plastic pallets again. This was a solution that AIM found as a win-win for everyone involved!
In the same visit, there were also custom-made wood boxes that housed multiple heavy metal parts. This brought up a discussion for a reusable bulk container (plastic) as opposed to the wood crates. As with most things in life, you have to way the pros and cons of each option and find out what one fits best for your given application. After long discussions, it was determined that it did not make financial sense to completely abandon the wood crates and jump full board with the plastic bulk containers. However, this is something that they are greatly considering to slowly implement over time when the old wood crates fail/break. What AIM can help do is to bridge a gap between people on the ground (in the facilities) and buyer/purchasing agents within the organization. We can better explain how something is going to be more efficient, safer, cost effective etc. in a more clear and concise manner.
Schedule to have AIM visit your facility to see what improvements AIM can offer to you!
